Surroundings:
The north east and east of Mauritius is a little less touristy than on the more popular west coast. Here, you will get an insight into just how much sugar cane and fishing have shaped the island’s history. We recommend a rental car, as this will allow you to discover your surroundings, including Post Lafayette and the Bras d’Eau National Park, in a sort of natural tour of the area. Excursions will surely take you to the Poudre d’Or where you will see sugar cane works, or to the fishing village of Trou d’Eay Douce at the edge of the Bambous Mountains. Just a few kilometres further, you can find the Ile aux Cerfs with its coral sand beaches, which is one of the most popular island paradises around. Boats set sail from the harbour over to here, where you can disembark and continue on foot to find a stunning spot to spend some time.
