Description:
The mixture of African and Indian influences on the island are evident around every corner at this resort. The luxurious La Pirogue, re-opened in August 2017, and named after the local fishing boats that are used, is more tasteful than ever before, but has still managed to remain faithful to its worldly, fundamental spirit. Straw-topped pavilions and bungalows in different categories, bright colours, different accentuations and a sustainable, modern design create a lively atmosphere that is ideal for honeymoons, romantic trips, or the perfect family holiday. Enjoy space for yourself or with others, the beach right in front of your private terrace, or pick a quiet spot in the garden. Speaking of the garden, you won't find another palm grove quite like this anywhere on the island. Especially one containing a pool with floating plant-islands, which bring the oceanic feeling a little closer to shore. The included services of La Pirogue are extensive, even without booking optional extras such as high sea fishing or parasailing. Five restaurants and three bars can be found on-site, as well as the various establishments next door at the sister Sugar Beach resort; all of this means that you can indulge yourself in another gourmet world, from Indian and Asian food to Mediterranean up to barbeques. The zen-style spa offers massage therapists, there is a 300 square-metre fitness centre on-site, and there's a material art area. The Kids and Teens clubs can take care of children from 2 years old right up to 17 years old, and you can arrange a nanny for children up to 3 years old if you so wish. Those who don't wish to sit around doing nothing all day can try out yoga or watersports too, while golfers can enjoy free use of the Tamarina and Ile aux Cerfs golf courses.
Specials:
- Stand-up paddling, dolphin watching, kayaks, windsurfing, yoga: try out numerous things during your stay!
- Discover beautiful sunsets on long walks on the beach and relax in the private garden of the spa area with a replenishing hammam-massage.
- The hotel’s own restaurants will take you on a culinary tour of the world.
- Children and teenagers can enjoy the different clubs on-offer with games and sport programmes.
Surroundings:
Whether you prefer beaches, the ocean, nature, or golfing, La Pirogue has something for everyone. The beach that runs from Flic en Flac to Wolmar is, at 8 km in length (5 miles), long enough for you to get far away from the stress of daily life. The clear, shallow water of the lagoon is ideal for families, or for more active holidaymakers, the beach of Tamarin, located 15 km (just under 10 miles) away, offers excellent surfing conditions. Further south, the Le Morne Brabant mountain rises to 550 m in height, and offers incredible views. This “Table Mountain” of Mauritius, as it is sometimes called, is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Between Flic en Flac and Tamarin lies the exotic Casela Nature and Leisure Park, with a fantastic view over the bay, making it well worth a visit. Here, you can see over 150 different bird species, and impressive giant tortoises too. Perhaps you'll have time to visit the Cascavelle Shopping Village too, with its huge supermarket and designer shops, before you relax at the pool and beach of La Pirogue.
