The 50-hectare estate of the resort serves as a contrast with its soft tropical garden with palm trees, hibiscus, and frangipani flowers. The grounds are also home to a 9-hole golf course and 20 straw-topped treatment pavilions in a Robinson Crusoe style thanks to the spa oasis with its turkish bath and sauna, which is one of the best on the island. The underwater world of Blue Bay is worth an excursion by itself. Go snorkelling, diving, or sailing on a glass-bottom boat to discover the best-kept coral reef of the island. Meanwhile, take a break from the beach at the old capital of the island, Mahébourg, with its typical Mauritian cafés. Walk along the promenade or visit the market on Rue Hollandaise with its fruit and souvenirs to buy. The historical museum is located in an 18th-century manor house, and tells the story of the island's colonial period. Right in the south of the island, around 25 km from the hotel (15 miles), the La Vanille Nature Park with 2000 crocodiles and turtles is also well-worth a visit. Meanwhile, the St Aubin house shows you what tea, sugar, rum, and vanilla have to do with each other. Finally, the small Ile aux Aigrettes, which has been a protected reserve for plants and animals since 1987, is worth a visit with a qualified tour guide.
