Surroundings:
Sugar cane and plantations, bright colours, and pure nature! Not far from the Black River Gorges National Park in the south of Mauritius, you can make time for an exclusive tea break. The small town of Bois Cheri, after the Domaine des Aubineaux near Curepipe, is one of the best known tea spots on the island, and is home to the oldest plantation of Mauritius, including a factory and museum. Take a guided tour and tasting in the main building and discover a new world of tastes. Those amongst you who fancy something a little more adventurous can try ziplining or quad biking, or go swimming under a waterfall, both in the La Vallee des Couleurs Nature Park, about 15 km away. If you have a rental car, there are also a few other excursions that are worth your time: visit the old capital city of Mahébourg in the east of the island, with its typical Mauritian cafés, promenade, and market; alternatively, head west to the lookout point at Chamarel, which offers a stunning view over the tropical forests, or pay a visit to the twin waterfalls with the same name.
