The north-east coast contains small villages, sugar cane fields, pine forests, and hidden bays aplenty. Away from the popular Grand Baie, you can discover lots of less developed sides to the island. Take a boat tour over to a nearby islands or head to one of the numerous beaches, from La Cuvette over Pereybère and Bain Boeuf to Grand Gaube, where you can enjoy watersports or simply relax. Why not take a diving tour to the rocks of Coin de Mire/Gunner’s Coin, where you can also see parrot fish and maybe even hammerhead sharks. Seaview Calodyne lies around 6 km away from Cap Malheureux, home to the picturesque chapel of Notre Dame Auxiliatrice, which is one of the classic excursion destinations in the region, and offers stunning views as well. Goodlands is also worth a visit to see its market, where you can buy fresh fruit and vegetables, or take a trip to the Historic Marine where you can take a look at a model of the legendary “Bounty”.
