Surroundings:
The traditional fishing village of Grand Gaube is located on the beautiful north coast of Mauritius, and is well-known for its fresh fish, delicious seafood, and typical Mauritian laid-back feeling. Walk through picturesque alleys and browse the local souvenir stands. The nearby Grand Baie is a little larger, with varied cafés, restaurants, and shops. Fans of nature should pay a visit to the botanical garden in Pamplemousse, or enjoy a tour through Mauritian history in the sugar museum. Excursions via catamaran to the nearby Ile Plate or to Ile Ambre, which lies in the lagoon itself, are also well worth consideration. Another highlight is Cap Malheureux, whose church lies right on the beach; the spot is also popular with wedding couples who want to get married there or have some photos taken. From there, you can also be taken to the coral reef to snorkel or enjoy the underwater world from your glass-bottomed boat.
