Best Travel Time
Mauritius enjoys a tropical climate all year-round, with daily temperatures between 25 and 30 degrees celsius.
The weather is ideal for a holiday at all times of year, although the climate does change slightly depending on the trade winds. Therefore, the best time to travel depends slightly on what you would like to do once you are there.
The high season is from October until April, and is the hottest part of the year, with 30-degree heat. The temperature at night rarely dips below 22 during this time either. These months are ideal for a beach holiday.
From May to September, the climate is somewhat milder, with temperatures lying somewhere between 24 and 26 degrees celsius. The night-time temperatures during the same months are around 18 - 20 degrees celsius.
These months are therefore particularly good for active holidaymakers. The comfortable temperatures and fresh breeze provide excellent hiking conditions.
In the months from December to March, Mauritius can experience cyclones and tropical storms. The country and all hotels are prepared for this, however. These storms only really occur every five years or so, so you are unlikely to experience one during your stay.
