Golf Guide
Anahita Golf Course
In-keeping with Mauritius’ tradition of professionally-designed golf courses, this offering was designed by South African golf legend Ernie Els. A challenging 18-hole course located in the south-east of the island, golfers can be sure of beautiful views of the ocean lagoon and the offshore Île aux Cerfs during their round. Located at the Anahita resort, the golf course offers numerous extra facilities to guests of the hotel, while non-guests may play on request.
Avalon Golf Estate
A rarity for Mauritius golf courses, the Avalon Golf Estate is located in-land, not on the coast. That does not mean that there is not beauty here; far from it, the rolling green fairways and the beautiful, lush surroundings make this as spectacular a course as any on the island. It also incorporates the beautiful flora of the south of the island to blend into its surroundings and provide a uniquely-unforgettable golfing experience.
Constance Belle Mare - Legend Golf Course
The older of the two 18-hole championship courses at this resort, the Legend Golf Course was opened way back in 1994. With more water traps than its sister course, the course may seem daunting, but it offers spectacular views and excellent facilities to anyone who decided to give it a go.
Constance Belle Mare - Links Golf Course
The Links golf course is one of two courses at the beautiful Constance Belle Mare resort. Having opened in 2002, it is the newer of the resort’s two courses, and is a par 71 championship course. With a mixture of water traps, lush fairways, and beautiful views, it is everything you’d want out of a tropical Indian Ocean golf course.
Gymkhana Club Mauritius
One of the oldest golf courses in the world, and almost certainly the oldest in the southern hemisphere, the Gymkhana Club Mauritius was set up in 1844 by members of the British Navy, thus the course is steeped in tradition. Its age also means that it is shorted than some of the other, more modern courses in the country, and it is also more affordable than some of the more luxurious options in Mauritius.
Heritage Golf Course
The Heritage Golf Course is located in the south-west of Mauritius, near to the coast. Here, golfers can enjoy an 18-hole championship course and a shorter 9-hole course, ensuring that there is something for everyone, whether you are an expert or a beginner. Besides that, the club offers a clubhouse, accommodation, a practice area with driving range, golf lessons, a golf academy, a pro shop, and a restaurant and bar.
Île aux Cerfs Golf Club
The popular beach destination of the Île aux Cerfs is also home to a fantastic golf course, designed by German professional Bernhard Langer. With spectacular views of the ocean, extensive use of water traps, and beautiful tee shots, the course is a really unique experience for anyone looking to work on their stroke in paradise. Visitors must take a boat to the island, but there are numerous options available.
Maritim Golf Course
This excellent all-rounder is ideal for beginners and experts. Over 9 holes, it will test various aspects of your game, all in beautiful scenery. With further facilities such as a putting green and a driving range, you can also work on your swing before taking to the course itself, if you so wish.
Mont Choisy Golf Course
Due to open at the end of 2017, Le Golf Mont Choisy will be part of a major development project in Mont Choisy in Mauritius. As it is not yet completed at time of writing, the details of the course are as of yet unknown.
One and Only Saint Geran Golf Course
Designed by legend Gary Player, the 9-hole, par-33 course at the One and Only Saint-Géran Resort is well worth a try for anyone in the area. Having been founded in 1970, the course is still one of the older courses in Mauritius, but offers all facilities that you would expect, including a clubhouse, pro shop, and a bar.
Paradis Golf Club
Located at the beautiful Paradise Beachcomber Resort & Spa, this course combines mountain views, beautiful fairways, and professional pedigree - the course was worked on by ex-professional Tony Johnstone during development. Besides a wonderful course, guests can enjoy the various benefits of a luxury resort, including restaurants, a bar, and nearby accommodation.
Tamarina Golf Club
Situated in the south-west of the island, the Tamarina Golf Club is a spectacular course that fits right in with Mauritius’ excellent golf facilities. With spectacular mountain views and lush, green landscapes, the Tamarina course is a unique offering on Mauritius, and well worth a visit for golf enthusiasts.
