The Complete Guide to Mauritius

Entry Requirements and Customs

Entry to Mauritius is visa-free for most nationalities.

Visitors require a passport. This must have at least 6 months of validity, and at least two blank pages available. Children require their own passport with photo.

Required Documents

  • Passport (or child passport)
  • Booking confirmation for your accommodation (for the first three nights, including contact details)
  • Return or onward travel ticket

Upon presentation of the above documents, a visa/entry pemit will be automatically provided upon entry. This will then be valid for three months. Anyone who wishes to stay longer can extend their visa on-site.

You will also have to fill out a form on the plane before you land.

If you are flying from a yellow fever region, please make sure that you have proof of vaccination too.

Customs Requirements

Importing weapons, drugs, pornography, cigarette papers, fruit and vegetables, meat, and plants is forbidden.

You can bring the following articles in the following quantities: 200 cigarettes, 50 cigars, or 250g tabacco; 1 litre of liquor and 2 litres of wine or beer; 25 ml perfume.
